Liv Andrea Hauge Trio
In this young jazz trio, pianist and composer Liv Andrea Hauge collaborates with Kertu Aer on bass and August Glännestrand on drums. Their music represents an innovative approach within the classic piano trio format. Hauge's compositions focus on groove, simple, melodic melodies, and spontaneous interaction between the musicians. The music leaves plenty of room for improvisation, where the music unfolds dynamically in response to the energy shared between performers and audience. Drawing inspiration from the rich tradition of modern piano jazz, the trio's expression is greatly inspired by musicians and bands such as Paul Bley Trio, Maria Kannegaard Trio, Moskus, and Kit Downs. Since their debut in the summer of 2022, the trio has had a high level of activity, with the release of three albums, extensive touring in Norway and Europe, and prestigious awards, including being selected as one of two Norwegian bands for Jazzahead 2024 and being named winners of the European Jazz Network's Zenith Award in 2024. Their debut album, "Live from St. Hanshaugen," released in October 2022, received rave reviews from Norwegian critics, including Audun Vinger, who wrote that it sounds "absolutely brilliant" and Torkjell Hovland in Ballade described it as "one of the best Norwegian jazz albums of the year." The albums "Ville Blomster" and "Døgnville" were released on the renowned Norwegian record label Hubro/Grappa. Both albums have received a lot of positive reviews, including the trio being named by the French magazine Qobuz as one of "10 jazz artists to watch in 2024.", and Citizenjazz wrote in November 2025 that "The theme in Døgnville highlights a deep sense of melody, combined with Liv Andrea Hauge's bold arrangements. The generosity she shows in the way she renews the classic piano trio form–piano, double bass and drums–establishes her as a central artist in contemporary jazz."
