LIS: Nina Brochmann og Kamilla Danielsen: Mytene om kvinnekroppen

Why have women been called hysterical, nymphomaniac, frigid, and hymenophobic? How has medicine helped shape the view of women's sexuality – and which myths are still alive and well?

Nina Brochmann is an author and doctor, and is currently working on the book "Undressed - The sick story of women's sexuality in medicine". On Wednesday, October 14, she will be at Litteraturhuset in Skien , where she, in conversation with author Kamilla Danielsen, will take us through 3,000 years of ideas about the female body, sexuality and medical science.

In "Avkledd" Nina Brochmann combines medical knowledge, cultural history and sharp communication in a story about sex, power, politics and science. The result is an enlightening, entertaining and at times outrageous book about how myths and "truths" about the female body have been created - and why they still concern us all.

Welcome to an evening about women's history, sexuality, medicine - and why knowledge is still one of our most important tools against myths and shame.

Nina Dølvik Brochmann (b.1987) is an author and physician. Together with Ellen Støkken Dahl, she is behind several award-winning publications. Brochmann and Dahl met during their studies as sex educators and started the professional blog "Underlivet" together. Since then, they have written the international bestseller "Gleden med skæden" (2017), which was translated into 36 languages, and the puberty guides "Jenteboka" (2019) and "Gutteboka" (2021. Their TEDx talk "The Virginity Fraud", about the myths about the hymen, has been viewed over 11 million times).

Kamilla Danielsen (b. 1990) has studied at the Writers' Studies in Bø. She made her debut in 2023 with the novel "Diskomus på venteværset" (The Waiting Room), which took both critics and readers by storm. In the fall of 2025 she published her second novel, "Andres barn" (Someone Else's Children).
