New collaboration and new focus on young DJ talents

Ibsenhuset continues to strengthen cooperation in the cultural quarter, where we, together with Team Fritid, among others, are developing new offers and activities. An important boost in this work is that we have now received support from Sparebanken Norge to purchase our own DJ equipment.
We would like to extend a big thank you to Sparebanken Norge for the support – an important contribution that makes it possible to develop new offers for youth and strengthen cultural life in the region.
Today, such equipment must be rented from time to time, which is both expensive and limits activity. Having your own equipment in-house opens up completely new possibilities – both for more concerts and for increased activity aimed at young people.
More concerts and a strengthened offer
Several artists, especially in hip-hop and electronic music, are demanding that the organizer supply DJ equipment. Now that this is available both on Ibsenhuset and at Hedvig's dormitory, we reduce both costs and risk, and can program more concerts within these genres.
At the same time, this gives Team Fritid the opportunity to strengthen its offering with more DJ courses – something they have wanted for some time. Separate courses for girls are also being planned, as an important measure to contribute to increased diversity in recruitment.
Shorter route to the stage
An important goal is to build a clear link between training and the stage. Young people who participate in courses will have the opportunity to perform as warm-up DJs in connection with concerts at Ibsenhuset where it is natural. This way they gain valuable experience from professional stages and a real entrance into cultural life.
The equipment will also be a shared resource in the cultural quarter. When it is available, it will be available for loan free of charge to other actors such as the Ibsen Library, the cultural school and Skien Art Association. This contributes to increased activity, better resource utilization and even closer cooperation across the communities in and around Ibsenhuset .
