Gilbert O’Sullivan

Come and experience Irish pop legend Gilbert O'Sullivan when he visits Ibsenhuset with an intimate and atmospheric solo show. He will be accompanied on stage by a guitarist, and the audience can look forward to an evening of both new songs and timeless classics.

Gilbert O'Sullivan signed his first recording contract in 1967 and has since created a string of international hits. Over the years, he has established himself as one of pop music's most distinctive songwriters, with melodies, lyrics and humour that have given him a long and impressive career.

The audience will hear familiar songs such as Clair, Get Down, Alone Again (Naturally) and Nothing Rhymed, side by side with newer material.

Gilbert O'Sullivan's career spans more than 50 years. His first major success, Nothing Rhymed, was released in 1970 and quickly reached the Top 10 in both the UK and Europe. His debut album, Himself, from 1971, demonstrated his unique ability to combine melodic craftsmanship, witty lyrics and keen observation.

In 1972, the album Back To Front followed, which solidified his position internationally. In the same period, the classic Alone Again (Naturally) was released, which topped the American charts for six weeks and earned him three Grammy nominations. Later, British chart winners such as Clair and Get Down followed.

Throughout his career, Gilbert O'Sullivan has toured extensively in the UK, Ireland, Europe, Japan, Australia and Scandinavia. He has also performed at Glastonbury and the BBC Proms in the Park.

His latest album, Songbook, was released on September 27, 2024. The album consists of new, stripped-down recordings of some of his greatest classics from the last 55 years.

Welcome to a concert evening with one of pop history's great songwriters.
