Tom Waits tolket av Sven Henriksen

Sven Henriksen is an actor, writer and singer. With the album "Rød Pust" (1996) and the hundreds of concerts that followed, he became one of the country's most popular interpreters of Tom Waits - and has translated some twenty texts into Norwegian - and is the only person to have done so with Waits' blessing.

In the first half of 2025, Henriksen will finally do a bunch of Tom Waits concerts again! The repertoire will consist of newly translated lyrics - new original songs - and old favorites from the Red Breath days.

Since his debut album "Closing Time" was released in 1973, Tom Waits has gained a loyal following all over the world. The characters in the songs he writes are twisted and shabby - strippers, drunks, burglars, drug dealers - conveyed in a musical expression hammered together with equal parts cabaret music, early Americana, blues and contemporary music.

Sven Henriksen is also an internationally sought-after actor on stage, in film and on TV. At the same time, he has made his mark in the public debate with contributions, feature articles and books that often revolve around the themes of exclusion, social control and/or discrimination.

Sven Henriksen is joined on stage by:
Hugo Risdal (various string instruments and percussion)
Thor-Erik Fjellvang (various wind and keyboard instruments and percussion)
Risdal and Fjellvang are both experienced, tasteful and virtuosic musicians, and together the trio possesses precisely the mix of explosiveness, tenderness and nerve required to tackle Waits' catalog.
